Military fitness field notes
Useful training survives contact with real schedules. These notes keep the priorities clear when time, space and equipment are limited.
Keep a minimum
On difficult weeks, maintain one strength session, one interval session and one longer aerobic effort. Small doses preserve more fitness than an ambitious plan you cannot complete.
Train the job
Use kettlebells for strength and power, but keep running, swimming, climbing, carrying and occupational skills in the programme when they are part of the standard.
Earn intensity
Hard sessions work when easy days are genuinely easy. Track performance, sleep and soreness; adjust before fatigue becomes a problem.
Field rule: choose training that makes you more capable tomorrow, not only more tired today.
